A Gwinnett County motorcyclist died following a Sunday afternoon crash on I-85, authorities said.

Zachary Stringer, 34, of Lilburn, was riding on I-85 North just south of Indian Trail Lilburn Road when he was involved in a crash with two other vehicles about 5 p.m., Gwinnett police said in a news release.

The motorcycle, a Tesla and an Acura were all headed in the same direction when the Tesla’s driver slowed due to traffic, the release said. The driver of the Acura, which was directly behind the Tesla, swerved to the right to avoid a collision.

Stringer was driving his motorcycle behind both vehicles, and when the Acura’s driver swerved, he continued to drive forward and hit the back of the Tesla, the release said. The motorcycle then hit the back of the Acura.

Stringer was taken to a hospital, where he died Monday.

The Acura’s driver was cited for driving without a license, but no one else was charged in the incident.
