A motorcyclist died after colliding head-on with a school bus in Cobb County Tuesday afternoon, police said.

George Leverett II, 51, of Marietta, allegedly drove his orange 2004 Yamaha motorcycle south on Milford Chase at a speed “much greater” than the posted 25 mph limit, Cobb County police said in a news release.

A Cobb County school bus was traveling north on Milford Chase when Leverett allegedly left his lane as he traveled through a curve, causing his motorcycle to overturn near Mill Creek Court, the release said.

Both his motorcycle and Leverett hit the school bus head on, killing him, the release said.

The school bus driver along with three students on board were not injured, the release said.

An investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Cobb County police at 770-499-3987.
