A Gwinnett County man accused of killing his mother remained at large Wednesday evening, nearly 36 hours after fleeing in his parents’ car.

Mark Raymond Wilson, who is schizophrenic, stabbed 72-year-old Phyllis Wilson 10 times in the neck, face and chest early Tuesday morning, according to the warrant issued for his arrest. Wilson, 42, had been left alone with his partially paralyzed mother between 8 and 9:19 a.m., when the attack allegedly occurred.

His father and caretaker discovered Phyllis Wilson’s body inside the family’s home at 1139 Simonton Glen Way in unincorporated Lawrenceville.

“Investigators developed probable cause to obtain arrest warrants for aggravated assault and felony murder for Mark Wilson,” Gwinnett County police spokesman Cpl. Edwin Ritter said in a statement.

Wilson is believed to be driving a champagne color 2006 Toyota Camry with Georgia tag ACE 4286, according to police. Anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts is asked to contact Gwinnett police at 770-513-5300.
