30 marijuana plants, child found in same Roswell apartment, police say

A total of 30 plants were found.

Roswell police discovered a grow house with 30 marijuana plants and a child inside.

Officers were called to the Seven Pines apartments in the 2500 block of Treeridge Parkway about 9 p.m. Monday after a neighbor complained about marijuana smoke from a building, according to a police incident report.

When they arrived, Shoneeka Wells opened the front door and police could smell smoke, officers said. Wells admitted she had smoked a little marijuana and she retrieved her ID at an officer’s request, police said.

When she told police her son was with her, they asked her to get him so they could make sure he was OK.

Wells started crying, shaking and panicking and told police she believed her boyfriend, O'Brian Perkins, set her up, according to the report.

She then led them to a laundry closet, where the marijuana was found, officers said.

Wells also led police to a bedroom closet where a Glock 17  pistol and a Remington 870 pump-action shotgun were found, police said.

As police were investigating, Perkins arrived and initially hesitated to identify himself.

Two officers later placed him in handcuffs and confirmed his identity with a Florida ID one of the officers took from his wallet, according to the report.

Perkins, 26, of Alpharetta, faces charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute/manufacture and possession of firearms during the commission of a felony. He was taken to the Fulton County jail in Alpharetta.

Wells was charged with possession of marijuana and related objects, a Roswell police spokesman said.
