The Cobb County man convicted of kidnapping and assaulting a woman he met at a pharmacy was sentenced to 65 years Wednesday, including 45 years in prison.

Darrious Mathis, 23, of Austell, was convicted on March 25 of the October 2011 crimes, including kidnapping, hijacking a motor vehicle, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during commission of a felony. Mathis previously used his good looks as defense in the case.

Mathis forced a woman from a CVS parking lot, drove her around and then sexually assaulted her in Atlanta, according to DA Vic Reynolds. Video surveillance footage from the CVS and DNA and physical evidence corroborated the woman's story, according to the DA's office.

The victim's father addressed the court prior to sentencing Wednesday, urging the judge to impose a harsh sentence.

Mathis claimed the sex was consensual, and his attorneys cited his good looks as defense during the trial. Mathis also claimed he was selling pills at the time, and the woman was a willing buyer.

Mathis' first trial ended with a mistrial when all but one juror voted to convict him.
