Several people were taken to a hospital after a crash involving a stolen vehicle in DeKalb County.

A 19-year-old man is accused of speeding away from DeKalb County police officers and hitting a sedan, injuring himself and everyone else in the two vehicles, authorities said.

The incident began about 11:30 a.m. Friday when officers noticed a vehicle that was stolen out of Rockdale County near Wellborn and Marbut roads, DeKalb police spokeswoman Michaela Vincent said. There were multiple people inside the stolen vehicle.

When the 19-year-old driver noticed the officers, he sped away, Vincent said. It’s unclear if officers turned on their emergency lights or initiated a pursuit.

Moments later, the stolen vehicle struck a black Volvo with two occupants on Giles Road, which is about a mile away from the intersection of Wellborn and Marbut roads.

The driver, an unknown number of occupants in the stolen vehicle and the two people in the black Volvo were all taken to a hospital, Vincent said. Their conditions and names were not provided.
