Gwinnett County police are searching for three people after a man was shot in the head Friday afternoon at a home near Stone Mountain.

Police said in a news release the man’s girlfriend was sleeping inside the home in the 700 block of Valley View Drive when she heard him yell for her. She found him wrestling with a man in another part of the house and left through a back window to find a neighbor and call 911. That, police said, is when the girlfriend heard gunshots from the home. She returned to the home and saw two men speeding away in a blue truck and a third man running toward the back of the residence, police said.

About 12:39 p.m., the Gwinnett K-9 Unit arrived on the scene, but could not locate the suspects. Descriptions of the suspects were not immediately available.

Police said they don’t know if the house was targeted or if it was chosen at random.

The man, whose name was not released, was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville. He is expected to survive.

They are asking anyone with information to share in the case to contact Det. Kenck at 770-513-5300. Tipsters who wish to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477 or visit www.crimestoppersatlanta.org.
