A Cobb County Grand Jury has indicted a man accused in a fatal stabbing during a high school graduation party.

Lintrel Dshun Gibert, of Dallas, was indicted Wednesday on charges of malice murder, felony murder and two counts of aggravated assault, his indictment states. Gibert was at a graduation party the night of May 30 at Laurel Park in Marietta when he allegedly got into verbal arguments with two men, according to police.

Gibert held a knife to one man’s neck, but that man was not injured, police previously said. About 15 minutes later, police say Gibert again pulled out his knife, this time stabbing John Benson several times in the upper torso. Benson, 36, of Dallas, died from his injuries at WellStar Kennestone Hospital.

Within an hour of the stabbing, Gibert was arrested on Conrad Court, just outside of Laurel Park. He has remained since his arrest in the Cobb County jail, where he was being held Thursday morning without bond.

A trial date has not yet been scheduled.
