A Cobb County grand jury has indicted an 85-year-old man accused of forgetting his cell phone containing pornographic images at a Marietta Starbucks.
Carl Alfred Iverson, a registered sex offender on probation for a prior child porn conviction, has been indicted on eight counts of sexual exploitation of children, his indictment states.
Iverson was sentenced to 10 years in April for computer pornography, but allowed to serve only 30 days in jail, according to Cobb County Superior Court records. His conviction put him on the Georgia Sex Offender Registry, and during his probation, Iverson’s Internet use was to be restricted to when he paid bills, and then only under supervision.
But on Sept. 23, Iverson, who is homeless, left his phone inside a coffee shop, his arrest warrant states. Employees looked at the phone to find the owner’s contact information, but also found pornographic images and called police.
The next day, Iverson allegedly returned to pick up his phone. But instead, he was interviewed by officers and arrested.
Iverson was being held without bond late Tuesday at the Cobb jail, booking records showed.
