More than nine months after a 71-year-old woman was killed in a head-on collision in Forsyth County, authorities have charged the driver with first-degree vehicular homicide.

Sean Charles Campbell, 31, of Gainesville, was arrested Friday in connection with the Oct. 24 wreck on Jot Em Down Road near County Lake Road, Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Cpl. Doug Rainwater told AJC.com.

Deputies were sent to the scene of the crash about 9:30 a.m. after Campbell’s 2001 Toyota Sequoia crossed the yellow center line and hit a 2006 Honda CR-V driving the opposite direction, AJC.com previously reported.

The driver of the Honda, identified as Barbara Morgan Fowler, died on the scene. Her passenger, 75-year-old Robert Fowler, was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Campbell and 23-year-old passenger Kelsey Sullivan had injuries that were not considered life-threatening, Rainwater previously said.

In addition to first-degree vehicular homicide, Campbell faces charges of serious injury by vehicle, reckless driving, no insurance and driving on the wrong side of the road.

He is being held in the Forsyth County Jail in lieu of $24,605 bond.
