A Paulding County man was charged with murder after claiming he accidentally ran over his girlfriend during an argument, the Sheriff’s Office said Monday.
Morris Ezekiel Hix, 72, called 911 Tuesday evening to ask investigators to check on his longtime girlfriend, Janet Darlene Osmer, at his home near Dallas, according to Sgt. Ashley Henson with the Paulding Sheriff’s Office.
“When responders arrived on scene, they located Osmer deceased in the driveway of the residence,” Henson said in an emailed statement.
Investigators determined Hix and Osmer had an extensive history of domestic violence resulting in emergency calls from the home, Henson said.
Hix was arrested and charged with murder and aggravated assault. He was being held without bond Tuesday at the Paulding jail.
Osmer was 52. A Paulding native, Osmer is survived by a twin sister, three children, a grandchild and other relatives, according to her online obituary.
“She enjoyed being outdoors and being with all her animals,” her obituary states. “She loved spending time with her family, and never meet a stranger.”
A Thursday funeral is planned for Osmer. Jeff Eberhart Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call investigators at 770-443-3015.
