Man accused of shooting ex-girlfriend point-blank in chest
An Athens woman is recovering after her former boyfriend allegedly shot her in the chest at point-blank range over the weekend, according to a media report.
Aubree Meon Mattox, 23, had recently ended a relationship with the man, but he “was refusing to let the relationship go,” an Athens-Clarke County police officer told the Athens Banner-Herald.
The shooting occurred when the woman agreed to give Dexter Cardera Williams, 27, a ride after he was involved in an altercation, the paper reported.
