Cherokee County deputies are investigating a shots fired report after a car was struck by a large-caliber bullet Saturday night.

A Jasper couple told deputies their teenage grandson was in the car with them when someone opened fire about 10 p.m. Saturday, spokesman Lt. Jay Baker said in a news release.

They were on Reinhardt College Parkway near the Highway 5 connector in Canton, when they pulled out in front of a car. That’s when they heard multiple shots.

No one was hurt by the gunfire, but a round hit the couple’s car.

Baker said no one could provide a description of the suspect's vehicle.

Anyone with any information or who may have witnessed the incident is asked to call 911.
