A man is dead and another is behind bars after a stabbing Sunday night in southeast Atlanta.

Little is known about what led to the deadly confrontation between the two men at the home they shared in the 2900 block of Glenwood Avenue. Officers were responding around 11:30 p.m. found the victim dead at the scene, according to Atlanta police.

He was identified Wednesday by the DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s office as 45-year-old Derrick Mayner.

“We believe that there was some sort of relationship there, and probably an altercation, although we have not spoken to any witnesses that can really tell us what the altercation was about,” Atlanta police Lt. Andrea Webster told Channel 2 Action News from the scene.

The suspect, James Moore, 36, was taken into custody at the Church of God Prophecy, about a block down from the home at the corner of Glenwood Avenue and Morgan Place, according to Channel 2. He was loaded into a stretcher and taken to Grady Memorial Hospital to be checked out.

While police have not confirmed their relationship, family at the scene told Channel 2 Moore and Mayner were relatives.
