Her fries may have been cold, but police do not believe that’s why a woman allegedly fired a shot and brawled with an employee inside a Georgia McDonald’s earlier this week.

Investigators told AJC.com on Thursday that Lillian Shantel Tarver, 27, was attempting to rob the Garden City restaurant when she approached the employee to complain. She was arrested Tuesday after a police chase on a metropolitan Savannah interstate reached speed in excess of 100 mph.

“She was a patron of the business and she did have a complaint,” Garden City police Detective Roberto Rodriguez said. “The robbery occurred afterward.”

The melee inside the McDonald’s on Augusta Road reportedly started when Tarver became upset over the temperature of her french fries. Rodriguez could not confirm the nature of the complaint.

The owner of the location told Savannah CBS affiliate WTOC-TV the woman left the restaurant after receiving her food and returned to demand fresh fries. When the manager walked into the kitchen to get them, Tarver allegedly followed.

There was a physical fight between Tarver and an employee before a shot was fired into a wall, Rodriguez said. An undisclosed amount of money was taken.

Responding Garden City officers spotted Tarver’s black Nissan Altima pulling away from the McDonald’s and engaged in a pursuit. The chase continued onto I-516 and came to an end about 15 minutes later on Fitzgerald Street, where Tarver surrendered.

Tarver was arrested on a slew of charges, including aggravated assault, armed robbery, attempting to elude police and battery, as well as weapon- and traffic-related charges. She remains in the Chatham County Jail without bond.

Rodriguez said no one was injured inside the McDonald’s, and the police chase did not result in any accidents or injuries.

Garden City, a suburb of Savannah, is about 250 miles southeast of downtown Atlanta.
