A trio of thieves had to resort to a Plan B when their attempt to steal from a Buckhead jewelry store early Thursday was thwarted, Channel 2 Action News reported.

The three men threw a brick through a glass front door of Aydin Jewelers on Peachtree Road just south of Pharr Road, Atlanta police Capt. William Ricker told the news station. They quickly realized all the jewelry was locked up in a vault, he said.

Not to waste an opportunity, the men allegedly stole liquor from the store instead.

The broken glass set off the store’s alarm. Officers responding to the business around 1:15 a.m. could not find anyone still inside, police spokesman Officer Jarius Daugherty said.

“After contacting the business owner, it was determined that a laptop and several bottles of liquor were stolen,” he said in a statement.

The incident is still under investigation, Daugherty said.
