A South Georgia man faces several charges after a 1-year-old boy was injured during an accidental shooting Thursday, according to multiple media reports.

Dewayne McClatchy Jr., 22, of Tifton, was arrested by the GBI after the child was shot and seriously injured, Albany-based news station WALB reported. Authorities have not released details about the shooting.

The toddler was flown to a children’s hospital in Tallahassee, Fla., where he remains in serious condition.

McClatchy was charged with second-degree child cruelty, tampering with evidence, giving false statements and reckless conduct, the news station reported. He was booked into the Tift County Jail.

The relationship between McClatchy and the child was not released.
