A man shot at a Union City gas station Monday morning drove to another gas station a mile away to call for help.

The man was sitting with a friend inside a car at the Chevron station on Buffington Road west of I-85 when they took gunfire, Union City police spokesman Jerald January said. They drove to a nearby Shell station on Flat Shoals Road and called 911.

Officers arrived at the Shell station around 12:40 a.m. as the victim, whose name was not released, was being loaded into an ambulance by Union City fire crews. He was taken to an area hospital, and his condition was unknown Monday afternoon.

January said the reason for the “act of aggression” is not clear. The investigation is still fluid, he said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective G. Nelson at 770-515-7967.
