A southwest Atlanta woman was in critical condition Wednesday morning after police said her husband shot her in the head and then turned the gun on himself.
The man was dead when officers arrived around 2:30 a.m. at the couple’s home in the 1300 block of Aniwaka Avenue. His wife was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where she remains in critical condition but is stable, according to Atlanta police.
“At this time, it appears that both parties (spouses) were engaged in an argument when the male produced a handgun and shot the female,” police spokesman Officer Jarius Daugherty told AJC.com. “Shortly after, the suspect shot himself.”
The shooting remains under investigation, he said.
