Griffin murder suspect turns himself in; father already in custody

A 23-year-old man who had been on the run since last week turned himself in to authorities Thursday, police said.

David Ramon Blalock Jr. was wanted by Griffin police after a 29-year-old was shot and killed about 2 p.m. Friday, AJC.com previously reported. Charles Alsobrooks of Griffin was shot multiple times in the 400 block of North Eighth Street and died at WellStar Spalding Regional Hospital.

Blalock Jr. is accused of the homicide, while his father, 41-year-old David Ramon Blalock Sr., allegedly assisted his son.

Blalock Sr. turned himself in Saturday and was charged with hindering the apprehension of a criminal, tampering with evidence and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, Spalding County Jail records show.

Blalock Jr. was booked into jail on murder, aggravated assault, aggravated battery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime charges, the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office said.

No other information has been released.
