Suspect ID’d in botched robbery that killed 3 at DeKalb apartments

Channel 2?€™s Darryn Moore watched officers with protective gear and guns move in on the apartment complex where a robber ambushed two men and tried to rob them.

Three men are dead after a botched robbery Tuesday night behind a DeKalb County apartment complex.

DeKalb police told Channel 2 Action News two men were ambushed as they were sitting and drinking beer outside the Indian Valley Apartments on Northern Avenue. Both were shot, but one was able to grab the alleged robber’s gun.

“There was a gunfight and everybody lost,” police Capt. A.W. Ford said from the scene.

Officers were called to the complex, which is located just south of the Clarkston city limits, before midnight. They found two men dead in the parking lot and a blood trail leading into the woods, where they found the body of another man they believe to be the suspect, Channel 2 reported.

He was identified by police as 23-year-old Jaquarvius Harrison. One of the victims was identified as Maung Win, 30, of Stone Mountain, and the other victim has not been identified, according to the DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s office.

Roughly 10 rounds were fired, Ford said, but investigators recovered only one weapon.

“I believe the one tried to rob the two, a struggle ensued over a firearm, and everyone got shot,” he told the news station.

The apartment complex is gated, and police do not know how Harrison got in. Officers had to break the lock to enter, according to Channel 2.
