A standoff in Cumming ended with a baby in critical condition and her father dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police say.

The incident started when an armed man barricaded himself inside his Forsyth County home with his 11-month-old daughter after a domestic dispute with his wife, officials said.

Their names have not yet been released.

After his wife ran across the street to call 911, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office blocked roads in the area of Castleberry Road near Bluff Heights Drive.

Deputies told Channel 2 Action News that the SWAT team discovered the injured baby in the house when they tried to bring the suspect a phone and heard her crying. They rushed her to the hospital.
