Jerry “The King” Lawler has been suspended by World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. after being involved in a domestic dispute with his fiancee.

In an official statement on their website, WWE says, "WWE has zero tolerance for matters involving domestic violence, and per our policy, Lawler has been suspended indefinitely following his arrest."

Lawler, 66, and Lauryn McBride, 27, were arrested after Memphis police say they were involved in a domestic dispute Thursday night.

When officers arrived, McBride told them she had been in a verbal altercation with Lawler. She told police she had been living with Lawler for five years.

McBride told police Lawler had held her down on the kitchen counter and struck her on the front left side of her head and pushed her against the stove.

She then said Lawler had gone upstairs to retrieve a handgun and placed it on the kitchen counter and told her to “go ahead and kill herself.”

When police talked to Lawler, he told them the two had been arguing because McBride had lied about where she had been. He also told police McBride had scratched him in the face, thrown a candle at him and kicked him in the groin.

Lawler told officers McBride had brought the handgun out of the garage and placed it on the counter. He also told officers McBride was intoxicated and he was attempting to stop her from getting inside her vehicle and leaving the home.

Since the officers were unable to determine which party had been the aggressor, both Lawler and McBride were taken into custody and booked.

Both have been charged with domestic assault.

The charges were dropped July 1.
