A man and a woman have been arrested after a 25-year-old man was injured in a shootout at a Cobb County gas station, police said.

The arrests of Jamel Hughes, 23, and Jennifer Foutz, 25, came after four people were detained for questioning, Acworth police Cpl. Youlanda Leverette said.

The incident happened at a Chevron gas station in the 3400 block of Baker Road about 9:20 p.m. Wednesday.

The area erupted in gunfire between those in a white Buick Rendezvous and a white Buick LaCrosse, Leverette said.

After a man identified as Galvin McCoy was injured in the exchange, both vehicles left the area, Leverette said.

McCoy was rushed to WellStar Kennestone Hospital with at least one gunshot wound. Officers questioned the victim at the hospital.

Soon after the shooting, Cobb police in the area doing surveillance spotted the Rendezvous and pulled the SUV over on a traffic stop, Leverette said. Those inside were taken to the Acworth Police Department for questioning.

“A firearm believed to have been the weapon used in the shooting was recovered,” Leverette said.

The LaCrosse was found abandoned in a nearby apartment complex.

Several people at the gas station reportedly witnessed the shooting, according to Channel 2 Action News.

Doniel Patrick, one of those witnesses, told the news station he heard what sounded like someone emptying their entire clip.

“I ducked in my car and I hid,” he said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Acworth police at 770-974-1232.
