Two restaurant employees were taken to the hospital and one of them is in custody Tuesday after an alleged assault in Avondale Estates, according to police Chief Lynn Thomas.

The alleged assault occurred in the North Avondale Plaza, according to a release from Avondale Estates police.

Police have not said what exactly led to the assault. One victim is in surgery and the suspect was also taken to the hospital.

“We have not been able to interview either party at this time,” Thomas said. “There is no danger to the public.”

The investigation is ongoing.
