Hundreds of friends, family and fans listened and danced to the rapper’s music at a vigil Tuesday at the Blue Ivory Restaurant and Lounge in southwest Atlanta, according to Channel 2 Action News.

“It’s a sad moment, but it’s a celebration out here,” friend Sereta Blackman said.

While the vigil may have been celebratory, a meeting at the Defoor Centre in northwest Atlanta was not. Area residents met with police and city officials to discuss how to get the recording studio closed.

Neighbors near the business said there was a different shooting at the studio six months ago and the owner, who lives out of state, was put on notice.

“We need to have this business closed down, and they can take their equipment somewhere else,” Atlanta City Councilman Andre Dickens said.

Dickens lives in the Underwood Hills neighborhood and told Channel 2 he and other council members are reviewing their options.

“Maybe a studio might need a special use permit that may need some sort of distance requirement between the studio and the next house or neighborhood,” Dickens said.

Neighbors brainstormed ideas such as creating new permits or declaring the studio a nuisance, according to Channel 2.

Music recordings at the studio have been suspended indefinitely, a representative for the studio’s owner said at the meeting.
