Hot dog trailer worth $100K stolen in McDonough
Just days before the Fourth of July holiday, a hot dog trailer in Henry County was stolen, leaving its owner in a tough financial situation.
Darren Miller told Channel 2 Action News his CJ’s Hot Dogs trailer, which is worth about $100,000, was stolen over the weekend, forcing him to cancel catering gigs.
“We’re taking a major, major hit,” he said. “We have catering jobs lined up I’m having to cancel now.”
Miller told Channel 2 he had to withdraw as a vendor from Freedom Fest at Community Bible Church as a result, which is one of the biggest events he caters each year. On Monday morning, he discovered the 35-foot-long trailer had been stolen from a parking lot on Macon Street.
“It probably took them every bit of 15 minutes to try and break that lock, get the key out and raise it up, undo all the chocks and drive away with it,” Miller said.
McDonough police told the news station they assigned a detective to the case Tuesday, but they don’t have any leads yet on the thieves.
“I want my trailer back, but I also want to catch these guys, so they don’t do it to somebody else,” Miller said. “I know they’re doing it to other people.”
