‘I have race cars’: Man defends driving new Corvette over 100 mph, police say

Officers said the driver hit speeds of more than 100 mph.

Alpharetta police said a man turned Ga. 400 into a racetrack by driving more than 100 mph and weaving between cars.

Channel 2 Action News obtained dashcam footage of police chasing and pulling over James Anthony, who was driving a dark gray 2015 Chevy Corvette.

He told police he didn’t mean to drive that fast, but he had an excuse.

“It can handle well. I just got it. I have race cars. I’m sorry,” Anthony allegedly said to an officer at the scene.

A patrol officer spotted him driving well over the speed limit near Mansell Road, according to the incident report. Anthony faces reckless driving and speeding charges.

“You know how many lives you just endangered weaving in and out of traffic like that. Absolutely ridiculous,” an officer can be heard saying on the dashcam video.
