A Lithonia man has been convicted of molesting two young girls during a tutoring session, authorities said.

Andrew Jamaal Nembhard, 30, was guilty of two counts of child molestation and two counts of sexual battery, the Gwinnett County District Attorney’s Office said in a news release Friday.

On June 21, 2016, Nembhard went to the victims’ home to tutor the girls in reading, the release said. While in a room alone with the 10-year-old, he touched her inappropriately on her clothed groin and chest, the jury found.

When the 10-year-old’s session ended, she told her mother what Nembhard had done, and it made her uncomfortable, the release said.

The mother called the girls’ father, a DeKalb County police officer, and told him what happened, and then the mother went into the room to find the 8-year-old on Nembhard’s lap, the release said.

The mother stalled until the father returned, saying the father would be able to pay him for the tutoring, the release said.

When the father returned, he heard the 10-year-old’s account of inappropriate touching, and his 8-year-old told him Nembhard touched her clothed groin and chest as well.

Gwinnett police were called and Nembhard was arrested.

He was found guilty on all counts and will be sentenced at a later date, the release said.
