Hall County deputies responded to a suspicious-person call early Thursday morning at a gas station.

It ended up leading to a Gwinnett County man’s arrest and the recovery of a stolen church van from Florida, the Hall County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Jeese Dean Rust, 29, of Lawrenceville, was charged with felony theft for allegedly stealing the 2002 Dodge Ram 3500 van, which had decals reading, “Truth, Faith and Deliverance Community Church of St. Petersburg, Florida,” the release said.

Rust told deputies he had a flat tire and was waiting for a friend to arrive from outside of Georgia for help, the release said. However, when deputies checked the van’s vehicle identification number, it was revealed the vehicle had been stolen.

Rust remains in the Hall County Jail on a $5,700 bond, according to jail records.
