Police are looking for the person who shot and killed a man in a Walgreens parking lot Tuesday night in Gwinnett County.

Investigators set up crime scene tape around the Walgreens in the 1500 block of Lawrenceville Highway after finding the man’s body next to his silver Dodge, Gwinnett County police said.

“We believe the shooting happened either inside or right at the vehicle,” Gwinnett police spokeswoman Cpl. Michele Pihera said. “The victim walked a few steps and collapsed.”

Dispatchers received a 911 call about 7:45 p.m. after someone came inside the Walgreens and told the staff what he saw.

The victim, believed to be in his 20s, was immediately taken to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville, where he was pronounced dead, Pihera said.

His car was impounded to Gwinnett police headquarters for processing.

Officials have not yet released the man’s name or a motive for the shooting.

Detectives are working to get a description of the shooter from available surveillance footage.

Anyone with information about the deadly shooting is asked to call Gwinnett police at 770-513-5300. Tipsters can also remain anonymous, and be eligible for rewards of up to $2,000, by contacting Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS or crimestoppersatlanta.org.
