A Gwinnett County School is on lock down because of reports of a gunman outside the playground, police and school officials are reporting.

Children playing outside G.H. Hopkins Elementary School near Norcross told school officials they saw a man with a gun walking near the school soccer field, Gwinnett County Police said.

Police were called and all of the students were pulled into the school building under alert status, Gwinnett County Schools spokeswoman Sloan Roach said.

“This is just precautionary standard operating procedure,” Roach said. “When police give us the ‘all clear’ signal, we will end the lock down.”
