James Levi Stokes (center) was sentenced to life in prison for aggravated sexual battery and aggravated sodomy.

A three-time convicted sex offender from Kentucky was sentenced Wednesday to three consecutive life sentences in Douglas County after being convicted of three more aggravated sex crimes, authorities said.

James Levi Stokes, 61, was found guilty of two counts of aggravated sexual battery and one count of aggravated sodomy against a woman who didn’t have the mental capacity to consent, the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office said in a news release. He was convicted in September.

On Oct. 22, 2016, Stokes went to the home of the victim, who lived with her mother, the release said.

The victim and her mother both thought Stokes was taking the victim to Burger King, but he instead drove her to the back of the Douglas County Sentinel’s parking lot behind a dumpster, the release said.

While there, he sexually abused her, the release said.

When he dropped off the woman, the victim was able to tell her mother what happened, the release said. She was taken to a nearby hospital and a family friend called police.
