A Barrow County man went to a park in Forsyth County to have sex with a 14-year-old, authorities charged.

Michael Anthony Putnam, 27, of Auburn, was taken into custody Wednesday at West Bank Park in Cumming, according to Cpl. Doug Rainwater of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

Instead of meeting a 14-year-old, Putnam was met by undercover officers who had been posing as the teenager and talking with Putnam via social media since mid-December, authorities said.

He has been charged with criminal attempt to commit sodomy, criminal attempt to commit aggravated child molestation, obscene internet contact with a child and illegal solicitation of a child.

He’s being held in the Forsyth County Jail. No bond has been set.
