A Barrow County man who pleaded guilty to molesting children at his wife’s state-licensed preschool program will spend the next 50 years of his life in prison.

Deputies arrested Richard Paltrineri, 64, of Auburn, on various child molestation offenses on March 20. His wife, Susan Paltrineri, ran SusanSilly Expressions Preschool Program, Barrow sheriff's Capt. Matt Guthas said Wednesday in an emailed statement. The Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning closed the Auburn day care facility in March.

The investigation into Paltrineri began the morning of his arrest.

“A child who attended the day care made a disclosure to its parents,” Guthas told The AJC in March.

Through that investigation, sheriff's officials identified at least seven boys and girls, ages 2 to 13, who were victims, Guthas said.

Paltrineri pleaded guilty Monday to 27 felony charges, including child molestation, cruelty to children in the first degree, aggravated sodomy and aggravated child molestation. He was sentenced to life in prison with 50 years to serve, according to the Barrow County Superior Court Clerk’s office.
