The Georgia Bureau of Investigation on Monday identified the man shot Thursday by two Clayton County deputies.

According to Channel 2 Action News, a man driving a library van led authorities on a chase that ended at a motel. When the responding deputies confronted him, the man reportedly tried to flee the scene.

In an emailed statement, GBI spokeswoman Sherry Lang said two Clayton sheriff’s deputies shot Gordon Michael Glover about 9 p.m. Thursday at the American Inn & Suites in the 6300 block of Old Dixie Highway near Jonesboro.

Glover, 37, was taken to Atlanta Medical Center for treatment, Lang said.

The names of the deputies involved were not released Monday morning because they have not been interviewed. Lang said the deputies are scheduled to be interviewed at a later time.
