A Gainesville woman was found dead Tuesday near Yonah Mountain, the White County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.

Officials with the sheriff’s office told the Gainesville Times they believe 27-year-old Virginia Grace Hill was alone when she fell Monday night.

A hiker spotted the body and called 911, sheriff’s office Chief Deputy Bob Ingram told Channel 2 Action News.

“Fire and rescue removed the body,” he said. “That took six hours.”

No foul play is suspected. She died from the impact of the fall, Ingram told Channel 2.

“Tragic situation,” he said.
