A funeral will be held Saturday for a 22-year-old DeKalb County native shot to death at Savannah State University.

Christopher Jamal Starks was shot to death Thursday night during an altercation inside the student union, according to police. The GBI is investigating the shooting, but no arrests have been made in the case.

A 2012 Miller Grove High School graduate, Starks was a former football standout and an aspiring rapper who performed under the name “Booley Boo.” Starks signed a scholarship to play football at Appalachian State University, but later transferred to be closer to family, his father said.

A public viewing will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at J.S. Hammond Missionary Baptist Church in Palmetto. His funeral will be held Saturday at noon at Big Miller Grove Missionary Baptist in Lithonia, followed by interment at Hillandale Memorial Gardens, also in Lithonia. F.L. Sims Funeral Home of Smyrna is in charge of arrangements.
