A memorial fund has been established for a 4-year-old Auburn child who was killed after falling off his father’s work vehicle earlier this week.

Donations may be made to an account established in Xavier Franklin's name at Winder-area locations of Community & Southern Bank. Locations can be found on the bank's website at www.mycsbonline.com.

Funeral services for Xavier Antonio Franklin will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Smith Funeral Home in Winder.

Xavier was killed Monday at the Mount Moriah Apartments on Mount Moriah Road around 7 p.m., according to Auburn police.

The child and his 7-year-old brother, Robert, were riding on the back of their father’s six-wheel work truck in the driveway when Xavier slipped and fell, Georgia State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright said. The father was identified as Robert Franklin of Auburn.

The truck has an extended back step bumper and hand holds, and Xavier fell from the back passenger side of the step bumper. The truck, which was in neutral, coasted backward and ran over him, the investigation determined. The child died at the scene.

Police investigated the accident, and no charges were filed.
