The fate of Fulton County sheriff’s Capt. Walter Lee White’s job remained uncertain Monday, authorities said. White was arrested and charged with pandering Friday night in an undercover sex sting operation run by the Clayton County police.

Monday, Fulton County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Tracy Flanagan said in an email, “His job status is still undetermined.”

White, 49, has worked for the office for 23 years, she said, adding, “The matter is under investigation and the Captain has a right to due process.”

White was among nearly two dozen people arrested during “Operation Summer Heat,” a large-scale sting aimed at cracking down on prostitution and underage alcohol sales, Clayton County police spokeswoman Noel Robinson said.

Twelve men were arrested and charged with pandering during the operation, police said. In addition, 10 women were charged with prostitution and 23 businesses were cited for selling alcohol to underage individuals.

Robinson did not provide any further details on the case Monday.

Online records show White was booked into the Clayton County jail at about 11:15 p.m. Friday and charged with prostitution-pandering. He was released on bond shortly after 12:15 p.m. Saturday.

Flanagan said White was “talking with internal affairs” on Saturday.
