Fulton judge allows suspect’s confession in Craigslist murder

A Fulton County judge ruled Friday a jury would hear a man’s confession of his role in the shooting death of a Sandy Springs man while robbing him of a PlayStation.

Danny Zeitz met with Nathaniel Vivian, then 20, and Kayla Dixon, then 16, to sell them a PlayStation 4 he had advertised on Craigslist last September. During the transaction, the couple allegedly tried to rob Zeitz and ended up murdering him, police said.

At a court hearing Friday,Vivian’s lawyers argued his confession was illegally obtained, but Superior Court Judge Wendy Shoob ruled it was voluntary and could be used at trial, Channel 2 Action News reported.

“It was very hard to listen to,” Patty Zeitz told Channel 2. “They’re talking about our son. Thinking they were there and did that.”

Police previously said both suspects confessed to while Vivian was getting treated at Northside Hospital for a gunshot wound to his hand.

At first they said Vivian had been shot when they were being robbed.

But Dixon later admitted she shot her boyfriend while he struggled with Zeitz as they were robbing him, police said. The bullet passed through Vivian’s hand and into the victim’s chest.

“I’m just glad it’s going to go to trial and we’ll get some justice,” Patty Zeitz said.
