A former substitute teacher and paramedic was arrested Friday for allegedly molesting children and distributing child pornography, authorities said.

Bryan David Somers, 40, of Cartersville, was arrested by the GBI after several law enforcement agencies received a tip, the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

He worked for MetroAmbulance Ambulance Service in Bartow County, and he also served as a substitute teacher for the county’s school system, mostly at Emerson Elementary School, the release said. It’s unclear when and under what circumstances he left those jobs.

Somers was charged with four counts of child molestation, two counts of enticing a child for indecent purposes, one count of possessing child pornography and three counts of distributing child pornography. No other details on his charges were released.

The Polk County Police Department, U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation.

He remains in the Bartow County Jail without bond, records show.
