A Rockdale County deputy accused of sexually harassing a coworker was allowed to resign the day she was set to be fired, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Former deputy Dedra Hall, 40, of Covington, was arrested and charged with sexual battery Aug. 9 for the alleged incident on April 12, AJC.com previously reported.

The alleged victim, a former county court clerk, asked Channel 2 to remain anonymous but spoke about the incident that led to her filing a complaint with the county’s Human Resources department. Hall worked as a bailiff at the time.

The woman, along with a witness, told investigators that Hall commented on the victim’s cleavage showing, the news station reported.

“(She) put her hands down my dress — commenced to fondling and groping my breasts,” the woman said. “I was scared and pulled away.”

The woman then began to re-button her dress, but she told Channel 2 that Hall said, “Oh no. Don’t button it now.”

In a handwritten note to investigators obtained by the news station, Hall denied the sexual battery allegations. Channel 2 couldn’t reach Hall for comment Monday.

She was released from jail Aug. 9 on a $500 bond, according to Rockdale County Jail records.
