A man accused of stunning a restrained inmate with a Taser while working as a Polk County jailer was arrested Wednesday, officials said.

Former jailer Harry Dallas Battle, 61, turned himself in to authorities following an investigation into the July 7 incident, according to a release from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. He resigned from his position July 8.

Authorities reviewed jail surveillance footage after another inmate filed a complaint about the incident, GBI spokesman Greg Ramey said.

An investigation was launched when jail officials noticed the video footage didn’t match Battle’s written reports, Ramey said.

Battle faces charges of battery, false statement and violation of oath of office. He has been released on bond.
