Florida man tells police robber 'looks like a Chihuahua'
By Hannah Winston
June 17, 2016When the owner of a Florida nail salon was robbed at knifepoint this month, he told city police the alleged robber looked like a dog.
A Chihuahua, to be specific, according to the police report.
Christopher Holmes, 18, was arrested Wednesday on one charge of robbery with a weapon and remains in the Palm Beach County Jail on $20,000 bail.
On June 8, a 44-year-old man told police he had been robbed of $500 cash as he left his nail salon. He said as he locked up shop, a man later identified as Holmes approached him and pulled out a kitchen knife. Holmes took the money from him, jumped in his silver Lincoln and drove westbound, according to the report.
The store owner told police he got into his car and chased Holmes while on the line with a 911 dispatcher. After the man provided the vehicle tag number, the dispatcher told him to stop pursuing the car. The owner told police Holmes looked like a Chihuahua because of his thin face and large ears.
When the license plate was run through a database, the address came back as Holmes’ residence. Police noted in their report that Holmes did have large ears and a thin face, like a Chihuahua.
