A 9-year-old boy drowned Wednesday in the swimming pool of an East Point apartment complex, police said.

He was identified as Jaricus Wyatt by the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office, Channel 2 Action News said Thursday.

Police are ruling the death as accidental after checking video surveillance at Parkside at Camp Creek Apartment complex on Seven Oaks Lane, according to Channel 2.

Witness Valerie Walker told the TV station that the boy was swimming with other children without any apparent problem.

“He was swimming on his stomach and next thing I know he flipped over and they thought he was I guess floating,” she said.

Instead, she said, he was unconscious. People tried to revive him but were unsuccessful, she said.

The apartment managers put up signs closing the pool until further notice.
