A Chattanooga, Tenn., doctor was arrested Sunday in northwest Georgia, where he allegedly went to have sex with a minor.

According to the FBI, Vikul Patel, 35, was arrested in Rossville by agents from the FBI-led Safe Child Task Force.

FBI spokesman Stephen Emmett said in a statement that Patel, a doctor of internal medicine, “came to the attention of law enforcement over the internet when he began a series of chats with undercover agents regarding his desire to have sex with a minor child.”

Patel was booked into the Walker County Detention Center on state charges of attempted child molestation and violation of the Computer Pornography Act.
