DeKalb sheriff’s fugitive squad nabs two men

The DeKalb County fugitive squad has made arrests in two murder cases, the sheriff’s office announced.

DeKalb sheriff’s deputies arrested a man Monday in the shooting death of a 21-year-old man last month.

Quantavious Hurt was arrested on murder charges in the killing of Demarco Franklin, who was shot twice while walking from the Exxon station on Holcombe Road near Redan Road on July 1, sheriff's office spokeswoman Cynthia Williams said.

Last week, deputies also arrested a man in another homicide. Karim Ali Ficklin was arrested Tuesday in Norcross on a warrant for him as murder suspect in the July 30 shooting death of Roc-Qwell Nelson of Stone Mountain.

Both Hurt and Ficklin were taken to the DeKalb County jail, Williams said.
