Three people were killed by gunfire overnight in separate shootings that occurred across DeKalb County, police said Saturday morning.
Two of the fatal shootings are being investigated as homicides while the third appears to be accidental, DeKalb police spokeswoman Michaela Vincent said.
A 25-year-old man was killed about 8:30 p.m. when multiple suspects fired into a Stone Mountain apartment that he and others were in, authorities said.
The shooting occurred at the Retreat at Stone Mountain apartments off Hambrick Road. The suspects fled in a car following the fatal shooting and none of them have been caught, police said, calling it an “isolated incident.”
About 30 minutes later, DeKalb police were called to a shooting at the Audubon Briarcliff Apartments along Briarcliff Road, authorities said.
According to police,a 50-year-old man was shot multiple times after returning to the complex from a nearby convenience store. Nobody was arrested in that case either, Vincent said.
A third man was killed two hours later after accidentally shooting himself in the leg at a Stonecrest apartment complex, police said. Witnesses called police to Arbor Crossing Drive about 11 p.m. The man, who was in his early 40s, later died at the hospital.
None of the men killed Friday evening have been identified, and all three cases remain under investigation, police said.
