A DeKalb County man has been indicted on charges that he was driving drunk in the 2012 wreck that killed his 15-year-old daughter.
Anthony Eugene Johnson, 35, was charged with two counts of first-degree vehicular homicide, driving under the influence of alcohol, and multiple counts of serious injury by vehicle and endangering a child while driving under the influence.
Prosecutors said Johnson was drunk on the night of June 3, 2012, when he lost control of the vehicle he was driving and crashed into a tree on U.S. 78 near Stone Mountain.
His 15-year-old daughter, Corliss, was killed and his 11-year-old daughter, Joi, suffered a serious brain injury and was taken to a children’s hospital for treatment.
Johnson was arrested and later released on $12,500 bond after prosecutors revealed that he had had two prior DUI arrests, in 2002 and 2004.
During a bond hearing, Johnson broke down into tears.
